DOOR3 Receives The Web Excellence Award

We are pleased to announce DOOR3 has received The Web Excellence Award in App and Mobile / Sustainability for our work with Retrievr UX mobile development.

The Web Excellence Awards’ mission is to honor, recognize, and acknowledge innovation by providing a benchmark standard of excellence for evaluating all media types and channels on the Web. The 8th annual WE-Awards competition featured over 1,200 contestants from around the world.

Retrievr is an innovator in residential recycling. As they are expanding, they need to unify the different experiences they offer users. They approached DOOR3 to create a design system for them to utilize in their platforms.

Creating consistency in branding and content is a daunting task for any enterprise. Design systems are a platform to organize all the tools that can help businesses build products and their brand. It is a repository of enterprise-specific UI elements for rapidly designing applications, websites, or any digital product.

As our UX team, lead by Tom McClean, worked with Retirevr, we realized what they needed was to develop a straightforward and consistent user experience across their platform and ensure that the new unified vision was flexible enough to handle their growth.

In the end, we developed a complete application reskin for their mobile experience. We focused on streamlining the Retrievr customer experience while utilizing our custom illustrations and branding materials, creating a truly responsive and smooth application.

Along with this redesign, we created a single source of truth that they can reflect back to. Their unique design system acts as a reference for people to guide them through future developments.

There are certain standards that Retrievr’s future endeavors will need, and our work ensures the core elements are readily available, customizable, and contain implement functionalities in line with their overall vision. Styling and functionality go hand in hand, and we’ve aligned them at a foundational level.

The Web Excellence Awards is presented by the Web Academy of Digital Arts and Media (WEADAM) and welcomes entries globally from digital marketers, industry professionals, diverse multi-media companies, and graphic/ web designers.
